DEFINITIONS

 .doc  The abbreviation fordocuments and the file extension for MSWord.
Alignment How text is positioned between the left and right margins. There are four ways to alignb text: Align Left, Center, Align Right, and Jusitfy.
Backspace Key Erases text from right to left.
Clipboard A temporary storage area for copied and cut text or graphics.
CTRL+A The keyboard shortcut that selects all the text in a document.
CTRL+C The keyboard shortcut that copies selected text to the clipboard.
CTRL+S The keyboard shortcut that Saves a document quickly.
CTRL+V The keyboard shortcut that pastes copied text. (THINK - VIEW)
CTRL+Z The keyboard shortcut that will undo typing
CTRL+2 The keyboard shortcut that double space text in a document.
Delete Key Erases text to the right of the insertion point
Font The general shape and style of the characters in your document.
Formatting Toolbar Contains common styles and techniques usually applied to fonts.
Insert Key When this key is pressed the existing text is OVERTYPED (OVR) with the new key strokes.
Insertion Point A vertical blinking bar on the computer screen that indicates where an action will begin.
New Folder Just like in a physical file cabinet, folders can be added to areas in you computer.
Icon A pictorial representation of a shortcut function in most software programs.
Shortcut Keys Keystrokes that give an instruction to the computer program to begin, end, or control a particular function.
Spelling Check A software feature that will identify your spelling and grammatical errors.
Standard Toolbar The toolbar that contains pictorial buttons that represent software functions and keyboarding shortcuts.
Status bar A toolbar that indicates the location of the cursor on the page.
Task Bar A toolbar that contains the Start Button and shows open programs on your computer, allowing you to switch between applications.
Title Bar The area at the top of a window that tells the name of the document and software you are using.
