Keep your photo and graphic image file sizes small!

There a couple of things related to image size to keep in mind:

(1) Images should be resized with a graphic image editing program so that the image is no larger than actually needed in the web page. 

(2) Use JPEG or GIF conversion to shrink the file size. This conserves server disk space and download time is decreased.  

If the image is in a 24-bit color format, you may want to reduce it to an 8-bit color format - this will make the image appear almost three times faster.
